TALL Newsletter Special 25th Anniversary Edition
TALL is running a contest, asking members to name their favourite luncheon speakers as it compiles its "top 10 list" of best TALL events.
Many of the contributors to the anniversary newsletter have suggested their favourites and the names paint a portrait of the breadth of interests of the association and its members.
Among some of the proposed "best speakers" are:
- The lawyer who defended serial killer Paul Bernardo
- Madonna's lawyer
- Anthony Sherwood, from the CBC TV show Street Legal
- Gordon Kirke on sports law
- Alan Borovoy of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association
- Keith Landy of the Canadian Jewish Congress on the prosecution of Nazi war criminals
- Chief Military Judge Kim Carter on the War Crimes Investigation Team in the former Yugoslavia
- Katherine Barber from the Canadian Oxford English Dictionary
- A lawyer from the Ontario Securities Commission on the response to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act
- Jeffrey Miller, columnist for The Lawyers Weekly and author of Murder at Osgoode Hall, the essay collection Where's There's Life, There's Lawsuits and Ardor in the Court: Sex and the Law
