Privacy E-Learning Tool for Canadian Retailers

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada has launched an online learning tool for retailers "to help them bring their privacy practices and policies in line with the law".

The idea is to help small retail businesses understand their obligations under federal laws such as the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

After completing the online training, retailers will have:

• an information audit
• consent provisions required specifically for their business
• a security plan
• a sample privacy brochure for customers
• a training needs assessment
